Phoenix Accords
If you are searching for Phoenix chords you came to the right place! This group was formed in the 1990s by school friends Thomas Mars (vocals), Deck d’Arcy (bass) and Chris Mazzalai (guitar), who had been playing together as a so-called “garage band” in Mars’ house in Versaille, the suburbs of Paris. Mazzaalai’s older brother Laurent Brancowitz, who also plays the guitar, joined the trio in 1995. Fun fact: Did you know that Phoenix has roots in the electronic music duo Daft Punk? Brancowitz used to be in a three-person band called Darlin’, together with Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo. When they released their first single it was called “daft punky trash” by a newspaper and shortly after the group disbanded. Brancowitz joined Phoenix whereas the others found interest in electronic music and formed Daft Punk.
Underdogs turned into headliners
The musical style of the Phoenix' chords has frequently been described as indie pop, pop rock, synth pop and new wave. As the majority of the tunes that are played on the French radio are in the national language, the musicians had first been disregarded as a French band because their lyrics are in English. Phoenix eventually gained a huge deal of recognition and became acquainted with the duo Air, who would also become labelmates, when they were the backing band on multiple appearances on television in the UK. Since their breakthrough, Phoenix has amazed many crowds with their indie tunes and have performed their chords at large venues. They have played at numerous well-known festivals around the globe, such as Glastonbury and New York City’s prestigious Madison Square Garden and were also headlining at Coachella and Rock en Seine festival in 2013.
In total, the group has produced six albums but probably some of the most famous Phoenix chords are that of their song “1901” which is part of their album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (2009).
